Motorway services-A welcome reply

As this keeps coming up I thought I would contact the various motorway service companies and see what they think about us caravanners. What prompted the email was their websites had no imformation about caravans at all!!

This is the reply I had back from Welcome Break about a lack of info on their websites.

I think it's a good start and seems like they are taking it seriously, we shall see

I certainly think the use of parking attendants will help and I would encourage us to make it known to them if we can't park due to cars or lorries

QUOTE
Thank you for contacting Welcome Break via the website......

We recently launched our new company website and are reviewing constantly what we need to add or take off to provide an up to date form of communication to our customers.

Thank you immensely for your comments, I am attending a review meeting in June where I have numerous comments that have been raised by users of the website. I will be discussing these comments at the meeting to establish the feasibility of adding & changing current information.

I will gladly keep you posted of the outcome.

In the mean time I am aware that there are occasions when Lorries & cars us the caravan bays which can cause immense problems when you need to stop.

Many of our sites over the summer period will see parking attendants who should hopefully go some way towards eradicating this issue.

In the meantime if any of your members are experiencing ongoing problems that are putting them off visiting particular sites, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will ensure the site General manager is aware of the issues.

It is only be listening to our customers views that we are able to improve on our facilities & standards.

Once again thank you for raising this issue.

I wish you a great bank holiday weekend

Kind Regards

Vicar embroiled in caravan site row

A Shropshire vicar has come under fire from parishioners who claim she used her sermon to support a controversial caravan site which has been opposed by more than 40 angry villagers.

Under fire Claverley vicar Sarah Cawdell has defended her sermon

The Reverend Sarah Cawdell, curate at All Saints Church in Claverley, near Bridgnorth, spoke out about plans to give the temporary site in Claverley a permanent licence for almost twice as many touring caravans during Sunday's service.

She told the congregation residents were not showing community spirit and they should improve their communication. Villagers said today they were "disgusted" the application was discussed in a place of worship.

Jane Worton, a villager who attended the service, said she was shocked when the vicar spoke about the caravan site.

"She just brought the topic up part way through the sermon and I thought it was not the place to be talking about it. I was so disgusted I felt like walking out - I am very bitter about it," she added.

Alf Downie, who has spearheaded the campaign against the application, said: "I was disgusted to hear the vicar had so blatantly supported the application in her sermon. She has not even considered our position."

But Mrs Cawdell today defended her actions and said the point of the sermon was community spirit. She said: "I was not coming down on either side of the argument. Someone has been circulating anonymous flyers and I believe we should stop the poisonous campaign and work together if there is a problem."

The protesters are claiming such a development would devalue their properties and lead to more traffic. But last night Bridgnorth District Council's development control committee approved the controversial plans.

Motorway Services and caravanners

A hot topic at the moment is caravanners and motorway services
Are they caravan friendly or not, where are the best services and places to stop over.

Touring and Tenting have added a new section on the database for caravan stop over areas, which we hope will build into a comprehensive guide to assist other caravanners and maybe show the top services where they are going wrong or what they are doing right.

Caravan Parks updated

New sections have now been added to the caravan park/campsite directory.

Along with dog friendly sites we now have sites that cater for land kiting of all things. Reviews have also been coming in thick and fast which makes each caravan park more relevant for someone searching for a park as these give 1st hand opinions of the park and not just the advertised version you get in a brochure,
