Touring and Tenting rally photos

This could be long so apologies but it needs some explaining as it involves current rally photographs, old rally photos general photos and the original gallery that went west in 2004/5, it has also taken several months in stages to get online.


I will spilt it up a bit to make it easier to read

1. New rally photo gallery
To start we have a new gallery which is the same system as the original gallery 1 and is set out in the same way, but on a brand new server  http://www.touring-tenting.co.uk/ but it is now only for Touring and Tenting rally photos, this way we can manage it and make sure it doesn't have the same size problems the original had.

It currently has photo's of all our 31 rallies in 30 top-level albums (112 total including sub albums) a total of 3904 images on 6 pages and I think it looks great and people can easily find each rally as each one is held within an album. We still have some to add, with your help.

I have moved or copied all the current rally photos we have on our current galleries to this new home so from that point of view it is up to date.

As I mentioned all the rallies are in their own folders so if you have any you want to add please upload them to the right rally album.

You can find the rallies either by scrolling through each page or by clicking on "Quick jump to photo's" which is in red at the top of the gallery page. This will give you a link to each of the rally albums.

Can you help? A guide to helping update the gallery

Bulk upload? A guide and instructions for downloading and using gallery remote which is superb for bulk uploading to both gallery 1 and 2, but is entirely optional

(The rally gallery is very easy to use if you have had problems using our current galleries this is far better from a user point of view in my opinion)

Nearer the time I will make a new album for the New Year rally which people can add to if they want afterwards. I think as it stands its a nice record of the rallies and keeps them all in once place. I hope you like and enjoy it.

How you can help

As some know, I salvaged gallery from the old host when we hosted in the States. Unfortunately some were either lost or got damaged when they were compressed for downloading.

I really could do with your help restoring some of these in particular the older rallies, Knight Stainforth in particular as it is the only one currently empty. I have some of mine that need to be scanned in but I know we had a lot from that rally so if you have any or know someone that does I would really appreciate your help.

You may already have noticed that there is a random rally photo on the home and my crowd pages, some of them are great so keep an eye on them.

2. Existing galleries
These will remain as they are and you are more than welcome to use them but if you could upload rallies pics to the new gallery it would be appreciated to keep this running record of them all together.

It would be nice to do the same with LMU photos at some stage but I will need some help for that one.

Gallery 2 will get updated later and will be easier to use, likewise the forum gallery will be updated later in the year


3. Old gallery photos These are photos from the original gallery

As yet I have not uploaded them but have them on the puter, alot of them were damaged/lost but I have hundreds that aren't and I have got to the stage where I have identified them and put them in albums by member. For most people these will just be copies of ones they have at home but if not I might have them. If you are curious or if you think there might be some you want please let me know by PM and I will arrange to get them to you somehow.

As a footnote the inspiration/determination to get this project done came from our old friend Doc who badgered me about gallery and rally photos and photos generally for months......and months unfortunately I didn't get it finished in time.
